It is reported that the researchers have localized the laser led hybrid headlights, which can be used in commercial vehicles and digital lights. Laser headlights focus light in narrow areas, reduce the size of optical systems, and allow for design freedom. According to foreign media reports, The Korea Photonics Technology Institute (KOPTI) researchers use ultra-precision optical system design and development of new headlights, can easily identify vehicles and people from a distance, At the same time to minimize the obstruction to the driver's line of sight.
Jung Kwang-hyun, a researcher at KOPTI Mobile Mobility Lighting Research Center, said, "We hope that the laser LED hybrid headlights developed this time will lay a foundation for localization and overseas expansion of the auto parts industry in the future." KOPTI has also formed alliances and taken leadership positions with private companies such as Daejoo Electronic Materials, A-Tech Solution and AMS to secure commercialized technologies.
Core technologies derived from the joint research include module design and manufacturing techniques for stable laser diode operation and efficient fluorescent materials for converting highly integrated blue wavelength lasers into white light.

According to KOPTI, the alliance lays the technological foundation for intelligent headlights that can be applied to commercial vehicles and digital micromirror devices (DMD), and high concentration light distribution control technology will be applied to a variety of long-range precision lighting products for future transportation equipment.
